The award will be handed to Sindri in connection with the screening of “Cosmetic Demons – A Choreographic Salon” at Atalante during the Göteborgs dans- och teaterfestival tonight Wednesday 28 August.
Motivation: ”With a background in both dance and circus, choreographer and dancer Sindri Runudde´s artistic practice is characterized by a curious playfulness that takes on everything from imaginary wildlife in “SealHuman”, seniors as ballet dancers in the project “Dancing in your shoes” to unleashing the inner demons of the hairdressing salon in “Cosmetic Demons”.https://www.konstnarsnamnden.se/nyheter/birgit-cullberg-stipendiet-2024-till-sindri-runudde/
Sindri’s work involves a variety of bodily and sensory practices, often combined with song, text and personal narratives. Through humorous puns and metaphors, we as an audience are invited into sensory experiences, contemplations of life and possible worlds.
Over time, Sindri’s work has been presented in a variety of performance spaces and venues from south to north, around the world, reaching both established dance audiences and new audiences. Their collaborators are both professional and amateur, young and old. Sindri’s work ranges from community projects and teaching to works for the big stages.
Sindri moves between and within all these different contexts and formats, always maintaining curiosity and artistic integrity. Their artistic practice has a queer feminist perspective, and with inescapably strong commitment to functional issues, Sindri inspires and drives the development of dance art in unexplored directions.”
