Choreographer Malin Hellkvist Sellén has during the 10 years since her debut gained a strong position as one of Swedens most intriguing movement examiners.
Often referring to her work as physical reflections on a specific theme or topic her works vary from solo performances to larger group pieces. Her dance is as clearly political and philosophical as physical and emotional.
Hellkvist Sellén recurring themes are normativity and identity and a search for contexts in which movement is justified. Among her latest creations is ”Pink promises”, a solo for Marianne Kjaserund deriving from examinations on certain modes of social dancing and body politics. In 2010 Hellkvist opened ”Within reasonable limits”, an piece which eminated from a open public call for non-professional and professional dancers. Hellkvist Selléns work has today gained her a large following recurrently visiting her performances.
These are our current projects for Malin Hellkvist Sellén.
At your service MDT Stockholm Nov 30th – Dec 4th
Malin Hellkvist Sellén starts a new choreographic process in Studio 1 at MDT. On Wed Nov 30 and Sun Dec 4, two documentations of earlier works will be shown each day. You choose which of her earlier works you want to see by voting (keep an eye on facebook.com/MDT). During the event on Thu Dec 1 and Sat Dec 3, the audience get the opportunity to participate in individual talks with the artist. 15 minutes are yours and you choose the topic.
You can also come and just hang around and watch other people talk. We turn Studio 1 into a nice “at your service-space” with music, bar (cash only) and choreographic thoughts. This new choreographic process starts from the interest to meet you and the idea of conversations and thoughts as movement capital.
If you want something special from Malin Hellkvist Sellén and her choreographic work this is your chance. She will be at your service.
